BPBD Distributes Aid to Fire Survivors in Pegadungan

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), distributed aid to fire survivors on Jalan Utan Jati, Gg. Mede, RT 09/11, Pegadungan Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-district, West Jakarta.

Aid distributed to help ease the needs of fire survivors

West Jakarta BPBD Task Force, Vitus D said the assistance provided was logistical assistance consisting of 16 boxes of mineral water, 80 boxes of packaged rice meals, 80 blankets, 40 sets of mukena, 40 sarongs, 25 family kit packages, 25 kidsware packages, 25 clothing packages, 40 tarpaulins, and 50 mattresses.

"Aid distributed to help ease the needs of fire survivors," he expressed, Thursday (10/3).

BPBD Handles Inundation as Rain Pouring Jakarta

He explained that as a result of the fire that occurred on Wednesday (10/2) afternoon, as many as 64 heads of families consisting of 215 people are currently being accommodated in three refugee tents belonging to Jakarta Social Agency (Dinsos), Jakarta BPBD, and Nurul Ilmi Mosque which is not far from the location of the fire.

As reported before, a major fire engulfed three stalls that were used as warehouses for used goods and plastic grinding. The fire also spread and burned down 50 semi-permanent houses, eight furniture warehouses, and two screen printing warehouses.

The fire that occurred at 12:17 PM was only declared completely extinguished at 11:30 PM. In the extinguishing process, personnel were hampered by the large amount of flammable materials at the scene.
